Hiring UGC creators, step by step
Hiring a creator is six steps in a row. With Scouty the decisions stay yours and the agent carries the rest.
- Say what you need. Tell Scouty what you sell and what kind of creator you want. If you have a contract, start from it and Scouty drafts the brief.
- Set the terms. The deliverables, the pay, the timeline and who is eligible are yours to define.
- Meet the creators. Scouty brings you creators who fit, from its Creators Club and from its search of TikTok and Instagram.
- Choose. You decide who to sign. Nobody is signed without your yes.
- Sign and onboard. Scouty handles the contract step and walks each creator through onboarding.
- Watch it run. Creators post on a schedule, with a reminder before each deadline, and you follow it in your dashboard.
What it costs to hire a UGC creator
There are two separate costs, and it helps to keep them apart.
The first is the creator. Canvas UGC briefs typically pay $20 to $200 per video, and traditional UGC briefs generally run $80 to $2,500, depending on the creator, the deliverable, and the usage rights. The rate on your campaign is the one you post, and it goes from you to the creator.
The second is the tool or the service that finds and manages the creators. Scouty is a subscription with a free trial, and it adds nothing to creator pay. Other models bundle the two: a per video price that includes the creator, or a marketplace fee added to each payment.
What to tell Scouty so the right creators apply
- The product
- What it is and who buys it.
- The content
- The format you want, and an example or two if you have them.
- The deliverables
- How many videos, how often, and for how long.
- The pay
- What a creator earns, and when you pay it.
- The requirements
- Location and anything else a creator must meet to be eligible.
You do not need all of it on day one. Scouty asks for what is missing, one question at a time.
One freelancer, or a creator program
If you need a single video this week, a freelance marketplace where you can see a price and click buy is the shorter road, and it is fine to take it.
Hiring becomes a different job at five creators and a different one again at fifty. Contracts need tracking. Each creator needs the product, the brief and a first video that is on message. Then somebody has to notice who has gone quiet. Scouty is built for that second job: a group of creators who post about your product on their own accounts, kept on schedule by an agent.
What stays in your hands
You keep creative control. You define the brief and you choose which creators to sign. The content is between you and your creators: Scouty does not produce or review the videos, and it does not sit between you and the creator on payment.
